Analysing Adverts!

Levis Launderret

This may have to be BBH at one of there bests! this ad caused such an up roar in the 1950's and was one of the first ads to include music in an advert. I love how  all the women get shocked about this, from this ad you can see how most of the Levis ads today have developed into sexually appealing ads.

Muller Ad Wunderful Stuff

This is such a happy advert and can be shown to people aged 10-40 as the characters involved are from every eras generation, it shows ordinary things getting taken over by the muller effect.

Analysing Adverts!

Red Bull Gives You Wings

Most of the Red Bull Adverts are animated which is one of there consistent themes, i like how this particular one shows and odd oldish man just walking along and a pigeon poo's on him, so he reacts by drinking red bull flying up and doing the same thing back to the pigeon. I enjoy there scenarios every time a new Red bull Ads is on as they never seem to be the same apart form the consistent colour theme.

This is such a good advert. And cats do stare a lot, so what would happen if they did have thumbs? cats rely on there owners to feed them and give them attention but with thumbs they can do what they want. Its funny and the target audience is for everyone.

So this must have to be the most annoying advert in history!! the song is catchy and sticks in your head, the Go Compare man himself is the most annoying thing ever, i just cant stand this advert.

Adidas Advert 2011

To me this advert just says, Adidas is a way of life! Adidas is in everything. There is a lot of celeb endorsement throughout this advert, which shows its a massive brand. The music ties in nicely, and just seeing snippets of clips leaves you wanting to see more or maybe create your own adidas experience. The advert shows Adidas in more than just clothing but sponsors and equipment too.

This advert is literal but gets the message across that by using Lynx Excite not only will you get beautiful women even angels will fall for you. The music ties in with the angels very well,  they cant get enough of the scent when they find the man. Its a very well constructed and thought through advert.

Analysing Adverts!

Twinings Advert

This advert works very well for the brand and it is definitely aimed at the older generation. I do like how it tells a story other than the animation it is such a simple advert, at the end there isnt even any one speaking over the top of the music the copy just shows up, simple short and sweet. You dont have a lot of these story adverts about which is why i also like it, the soothing music lets you think the tea is soothing and relaxing too.

The new birds eye ads have to be my favourite of all time!! I just find them sooo funny. I like how they use a polar bear as they live in the arctic and the freezer is a cold place. His voice is clear and the message is put across easily. He also describes the food and tells her why to use birds eye and nothing else! in most frames the only thing standing out is the birds eye product. I cant wait to see more of these.

Benetton Analysed!

This campaign was made in 1989 by Oliviero Toscani these posters then went on to shape the following 11years of Benetton. Both these posters are to get across that skin colour isnt an issue. They have nothing to do with the clothing brand but they are highlighting a global issue and these strong images defiantly got attention and there message across.

Analysing Adverts!

Dove Viral Avert

I chose to analyse the Dove viral ad as it makes a massive impact and point to all women out there. It speeds up the process it took this women to get to be on a magazine/ billboard. you see her have her hair and make up done then how she is changed on photoshop. Im glad Dove did this as finally someone is showing that all the women you see in everyday media are not real women.

Iv loved this advert since the first time i saw it! It makes ikea seem fun, as i know a lot of people hate to go shopping in ikea. The tune is catchy and its song links in with the advert really well, there is a series of Ikea Kitchen with different parties going on and these 2 guys attend every one of them, the message is that there is a kitchen for every type of party. I love the use of colours lighting and tone in this, the bold bright colours also work really well with the dimmer lower tones.

Analysing Literal Ads

Cilit Bang Advert!

This Cillit Bang Ad does exactly what it says, it gets the message across and even shows the product working. It used bright bold colours which are in your face so u cant miss the advert when its on the TV. Im not a big fan of this advert its too in your face!!

I much prefer this literal ad to the Cillit Bang advert, it doesnt get the message across in an annoying way. Its clear and to the point, the man wants to paint his door, ronseal says it will will be dry and waterproof in 30min so he paints the door and in 30 min its dry. So its making the point "It does exactly what it says on the tin" completely true.

Analysing Ads

Guinness Ad - Dark Life

Im a fan of all the Guinness adverts, and when i saw this one i thought it was just as good as the rest of them.  I love how you see what is the sky (which is actually Guinness) comes down and just emerge the town, and as the advert continues it begins to take over the entire city/town. You see things come to life with lights, fires, people in the streets,  in the end the entire city is alive. During the ad you see shots of people drinking Guinness. The ad works well as you see things go from dark to light just like a Guinness does. The colours and theme is appropriate for the ad.

This Skoda ad is really clever as you watch them build the car, and turn it into a massive cake. The song used sings about food and sweet things everyone loves, so creates the idea that this car is going to be really nice too. By showing that they make the car, and put all the icing on and build the engine too, shows that they (Skoda) put a lot of care and craftsmanship into building there products. Throughout the ad when the cake is being constructed Skoda parts are brightly coloured to stand out against the white plain background.

This is beautifully made advert but its a bit mixed up as the theme is based on Beauty and the Beast. I know that the Audi is meant to be the "beauty" and the hot rods the "beasts" but i think all the cars in this advert are nice, and Im sure any car enthusiasts will be thinking the same thing, the Audi is a modern, beautifully constructed car but on the other hand the hot rods are an authentic piece of history with a lot of character of there own. I think the transition between the music helps differentiate between the "beauty" and the "beasts" when the hot rods are being shown the music is very quick Rock 'n' Roll and the hot rods are shown racing about bumping into one another, its almost like the scene has been sped up Then everything starts to slow down including the music, next is a shot of the car and in comes the very light slow beautiful classical music, it makes the car look even more graceful. It dodges all the hot rods so effortlessly, and that is what ties it in with the copy so well at the end. Very clever advert in my opinion.

Analysing Ads

Evian Roller Babies

Everyone was talking about this ad when it first came out! When the music first starts it grabs the audiences attention as its a very upbeat and recognisable song.  Then from the second you see the babies, as its such a surreal thing to see babies roller skating. All the colours are bright clear and soothing, which i think portray everything about the water its advert, when the music stops and cuts to a plain screen with the Evian logo and a bit of text that makes you read it as where your so engrossed in the ad then the music stop and you can hear drops of water and lets you know "Supports your body's youth" it relates back to the roller babies as there very youthful. The animation used in this advert is very well done. They also include the product into the advert which the babies use to skate around. Overall i think this is a very well made advert and connects with every target audience.

Ray-Ban Poster!

This is just one of the posters i did, and its one of my fav! its simple but effective as the ad campaign is "Never Hide" and you can still quite clearly see the ray bans in the background.

But by working at spoons i am allowed a transfer so i will still have a job just near my uni which is a bonus :) My first choice is working in the Lloyds Bar as it has music and working in a bar that plays music is perfect coz i cant stand not working in a bar without music like im doing now!

So hopefully i get the transfer i want to The Queens Hotel the Lloyds bar in Newport Town :)

It looks like every other Spoons but with music, thats the beauty of it lol :)

2011 Progression !

So now its the end of my final year at college, and i can honestly say i will miss everyone!! We have had some great times and not forgetting the laughs.

Im off to the University of Wales in September, if i get the grades :) im so excited i cant wait!! iv already filled out and applied for my student loan and also my Student accommodation. The uni also sent me a social network site for postgraduates of the uni, and through the site i have already made a load of new friend and been able to talk to people that will be on the same course as me :D

I know uni is going to be very self directed and the work will be an awful lot harder than college but after the experience of falling behind at college due to issues at home, iv had to do an awful lot of catching up and i dont like it one bit !! I like to think that when i get to uni il be able to focus a lot more on my work as i wont have the trouble of looking after my sister. I will already have a job for when i get up there as Weatherspoons are going to transfer me which is a bonus :)

I still have the opportunity to go to Australia in July but im not sure weather to go or not due to saving for uni  =/

Website!

This is the home page for my website. i thought using a Polaroid theme would look good, but i hate it, i wish i could change it and make it a lot simpler!! its a bit messy and all over the place, t o be completely honest i just needed to get something done to pass my unit.

Private Show ;) 17th June

On the 17th June, we had the private show for our end of year show :) it started at 5 ended at 8. I brought my mum and granddad along, i was surprised they came actually :) it was nice to see everyone dressed up for the occasion even Babs. Everyone was chatting to everyone, there was free booze and food what more could u ask for !! so i looked around the show chatted to a few people, showed the fam the work lol!! then they spoke to Babs and Rob for a bit. I didnt stay to watched the fashion show as it isnt really my thing. Overall a good evening :D well done to everyone involved!!

Putting up the rest of the show !

For this years show we decided to put up a wall of experimentation :) this was to prove to the art students that us graphics kids dont just use computers, and that there is all the planning and development before the refining stage in the mac. This has pieces from everyones portfolio and also projects.

As the theme of our show this year is vintage, we decided to go for the chip boards, i think they do work a lot better than the white boards, it makes the work stand out more.

This is what the final wall looked like ! I like how busy it is, at least then it makes you stop to look at every piece of work individually.  Now the room is ready for the private showing on the 17th June!!

Retro Poster

I made this 50's pin up style poster, for my Retro Poster project. We had to pick a brand that had been going for years, so i chose Levis. I think i could have done a lot better but i like the simplicity of it :)

Handmade Type

This is the handmade type post i done for my Type project. Was a last minuet thing as i did want to use sequins and light them but, but that turned out to be a bit too tricky so in the spur of the moment and thanks to the wits of my tutor Babs, i ended up using condoms to create this messy poster. I took the photos with the condoms placed on black paper, a lot of photoshop was used as you could see all the lube marks so using levels and the history brush i managed to get rid of them. This is being used as my A1 piece in the end of year show :) hope u like.

Pole Fitness

^ Lady of the Night ^

^ The Helicopter ^

^ Handstand ^

This blog entry is about one of my favourite hobbies and to hopefully sway peoples opinions about the sport. Iv been doing pole fitness now for 5months and its had a great impact on my confidence and my strength, it is incredibly hard as you are using all the muscles in your body, you become very bruised and its extremely tiring.  But its so much fun !! people take the piss, and laugh at me and i get called a slut, but i would like to see them try and do it.  I have never been able to stick to any particular kind of sport or going to the gym, it just bored me after a month. Pole fitness is the only fitness that i have stuck with and cant get enough of! And through doing this i have met the most amazing group of ladies that i am more than happy to call my friends (:

Blogger Header !

So (we) just finished making the Header for my blogger. You wouldnt believe how much trouble that put me (us) through for something soooo simple !! so Nathan helped me out o & so did Faye hahah but its done now and i think it looks pretty :) what do u think??

Oil Painting Room ??

So its that time of year, the end of year show is coming up and we need a venue for our work ! After the decision to have the show in the oil painting room, we now have to gut it out and paint the walls! I guess the only good thing about doing that is we get to bump up unit 10 by helping out with it.

So im going to document our progress on how its getting on:

So this is the beginning and as u can see we have a long way to go :)

I have taken picture of the wood chip dividers. We have decided to use these for the patrician wall, and to cover the sink in the oil painting room as the white ones the previous years have used just didnt make the work stand out. As you can see the work stands out really well agains the chip board plus i love the texture its different which is exactly what we are aiming for with our show :)

Matt W Moore

For my FMP ( Final Major Project) i am going to design my own ad campaign for Ray Bans. I have looked into Matt W Moore as i love his contemporary vibrant designs.

He is inspired by music, nature & geometry. His artistic influences include Picasso, McEscher, Dondi White, Rime and the list goes on. He is a former street artist and founder of MWM Designs.

He has his own unique style called "Vector Funk" and this was developed in his early years of graffiti and mural paintings. He does a lot of travelling most to places like Spain, Portugal, and Brazil as these countries have vibrant colour pallets that just keep on inspiring him.

London Trip & Lunch with Babs !

On 29th March, there was yet another London trip (for FMP) !! But this was much more special than the rest. because me Molzz and Tezza had lunch with Babs !! hahaha. so we had lunch in the V&A, tezza wont let me forget this but i did have a whole roast dinner ha and then eat the extra potatos! was the best. We got a lovely group shot :) then the 4 of us had a little tour of Harrods i felt like a kid in a sweet shop, that place is the reason girls grow up wanting to marry rich men haha !! i had to go around and find primary research for my FMP so i got pics of POS from harrods and the sunglass hut. Tezza got her bits from The best TOPSHOP i have ever seen. Was a great day :)

=/

To cut a long boring story short, Falmouth didnt accept me, and i thought that was my best interview yet! Wales Here I Come !!!

LCC & Plymouth Interview ! (:

On the 16th March i went to LCC with Teri (: as we had our interview for the BA, when we got there it was packed!! all we had to do was drop our folders off and then leave for 4hours, we did get a little bored but had a good adventure :)

I didnt really like the feel of the uni =/ and a couple days later i was asked to send an online portfolio for the foundation degree, but i didnt bother as i didnt want to do a foundation degree!

On the 19th March i travelled down to plymouth with my friends :) was a really good journey as i slept all the way down there woke up for my interview, i LOVED the campus, and the studios were amazing !! i was kinda falling asleep in a lecture we were all given but non the less i did my best in the interview even tho i was sooooo tired, i didnt think i did to well but i get accepted :D

University !!

On Wednesday 2nd March I went to Newport for my first Uni interview !! I travelled up with my dad, and we was on time right up un-till we got into Newport and we got lost in the one way system, but once we asked for directions 'coz the sat-nav was an epic fail i was running 5min late. But its a total new building it opened in Jan of this year :) i asked for directions at the main desk and i was sent to a huge lecture room and i walked in 5min late and i have everyone looking at me wasn't good !! We all received a talk about the courses and learnt a lot about the new build and student life. Then we all got split up into groups for the different courses and went up to the Graphics/Advertising dept, everyone seemed pretty cool and most of the students were from Bristol or Portsmouth and only a few from Wales. Then our group received a talk from the course tutor and she was great ! I found out all about the course, looked at existing students work and the standard was sooo high ! the adverts the students had created were AMAZING ! if i went to thins uni i would deffo have to learn to use flash but then i would gain a great skill. I thought my interview went really well, i was confident and she seemed pleased with my work, i also got a few tips on ho to present my work a lot better. Before i left i spoke to some more students about accommodation and they suggested that the best thing to do was stay at opal as it was right by the uni and the town. But the thing i was most pleased about was theres a pole fit studio just a few streets away from the accommodation :D if Falmouth is a total fail. i will deffo be going here !! WISH ME LUCK

FMP & First Uni Interview!!

So i was told my interview for Newport was on the 16th, that was a problem already considering i had already accepted an interview for LCC on that day!! so i ask to get it changed and what did they do, brought it forward by 2 weeks!! so i was rushing around to get my portfolio done stayed up till 4 am doing it had 3 hours sleep got to the interview and some how they accepted me :) all in all a goods days work haha.

http://www.newport.ac.uk/Pages/home.aspx

Stil got a lot of my portfolio to sort out by the time i have my next interview, but im about to start my FMP cant believe these last two years have gone so quick !! the brief i think im going to to is an ad campaign for Ray-Bans, promote them to 16-25 to try to encourage them buy and wear them over any other brad :) lets see how that goes then ...

I Absolutely  cannot wait to go to uni!!  im really hoping to go to Falmouth, i think other than it having one of the best design courses its also in a wonderful part of the country. Its been nearly four weeks since iv applied for uni and iv heard back from everyone else apart from Falmouth .... Soooo Nervous !!

Hope i hear from them soon!!
