Analysing Ads

Guinness Ad - Dark Life

Im a fan of all the Guinness adverts, and when i saw this one i thought it was just as good as the rest of them.  I love how you see what is the sky (which is actually Guinness) comes down and just emerge the town, and as the advert continues it begins to take over the entire city/town. You see things come to life with lights, fires, people in the streets,  in the end the entire city is alive. During the ad you see shots of people drinking Guinness. The ad works well as you see things go from dark to light just like a Guinness does. The colours and theme is appropriate for the ad.

This Skoda ad is really clever as you watch them build the car, and turn it into a massive cake. The song used sings about food and sweet things everyone loves, so creates the idea that this car is going to be really nice too. By showing that they make the car, and put all the icing on and build the engine too, shows that they (Skoda) put a lot of care and craftsmanship into building there products. Throughout the ad when the cake is being constructed Skoda parts are brightly coloured to stand out against the white plain background.

This is beautifully made advert but its a bit mixed up as the theme is based on Beauty and the Beast. I know that the Audi is meant to be the "beauty" and the hot rods the "beasts" but i think all the cars in this advert are nice, and Im sure any car enthusiasts will be thinking the same thing, the Audi is a modern, beautifully constructed car but on the other hand the hot rods are an authentic piece of history with a lot of character of there own. I think the transition between the music helps differentiate between the "beauty" and the "beasts" when the hot rods are being shown the music is very quick Rock 'n' Roll and the hot rods are shown racing about bumping into one another, its almost like the scene has been sped up Then everything starts to slow down including the music, next is a shot of the car and in comes the very light slow beautiful classical music, it makes the car look even more graceful. It dodges all the hot rods so effortlessly, and that is what ties it in with the copy so well at the end. Very clever advert in my opinion.
